The Challenge
Industrial Systems was selected as the City of Scappoose's SCADA provider via a qualification-based selection process. The first project completed under this agreement was the recreation of SCADA systems for the City's water treatment plants.
The City operates two WTPs and needed new SCADA systems designed for both to have the same look and feel while maintaining independent systems to provide resiliency.
Our Approach
The Solution
Industrial Systems completed the implementation of a preliminary SCADA system to allow the City to better control their existing wastewater treatment plant while work on the design of their new plant was completed. The SCADA system provides automatic control and remote access for WAS pumping, aeration, and influent pumping. This system was enhanced to include control of the new plant.
The new SCADA system was brought into operation while maintaining full operation with zero downtime. The solution was implemented using state-of-the-art Tridium Control Microsystems PLC, with extensive data logging and trending to aid in tracking application performance, and multiple types of serial and Ethernet communications to board assets.
Results
Project Outcomes
Both water treatment plants now operate under unified SCADA systems with a consistent interface, giving operators a familiar environment across facilities while maintaining independent system resiliency. The City benefits from automatic control, remote access, and comprehensive data logging and trending capabilities.
